The Helderberg-Hudson Grotto supports the National Speleologial Society's goals of cave conservation, exploration, and the study in eastern New York and western New England. Activities include recreational trips for beginners to experts, slide shows, cave clean-ups, vertical traning, and support for exploration, digging, and mapping.

Membeship is open to anyone for $10 per year. Membership in the NSS within a year of joining the HHG is encouraged and urged.
